Goa is a state in western India with coastlines stretching along the Arabian Sea. Its long history as a Portuguese colony prior to 1961 is evident in its preserved 17th-century churches and the area’s tropical spice plantations. Goa is also known for its beaches, ranging from popular stretches at Baga and Palolem to those in laid-back fishing villages such as Agonda.


TOURISM POTENTIAL

Tourism activity is generally promoted on the coastal areas of Goa. This picturesque state is a destination of choice for Indian and foreign tourist, especially Britons and Russian travelers. Goa stands 6th among the top ten Nightlife cities in the world in National Geographic Travel. A water sport is the prime attraction of the state. Popular beaches such as Baga and Calangute offer jet-skiing, parasailing, banana boat rides, water scooter rides, and much more. Patnem beach in Palolem stood third in CNN Travel's top twenty Beaches in Asia.

Goa set to reopen for tourists today, allows pre-booking at registered hotels; makes COVID-19 test compulsory for visitors. Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that tourism sector in the state will have to strictly abide by social distancing and strict standard operating procedures (SOPs).

* DUDHSAGAR FALLS 

Dudhsagar Falls is a four-tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River in the Indian state of Goa. It is 60 km from Panaji by road and is located on the Belgavi–Vasco Da Gama rail route about 46 km east of Madgaon and 80 km south of Belgavi.

SPECIALITY: Dudhsagar Falls is amongst India's tallest waterfalls with a height of 310 m (1017 feet) and an average width of 30 metres (100 feet). The falls is located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park among the Western Ghats.

AGUADA FORT 

Fort Aguada is a well-preserved seventeenth-century Portuguese fort, along with a lighthouse, standing in Goa, India, on Sinquerim Beach, overlooking the Arabian Sea. It is an ASI protected Monument of National Importance in Goa.

SPECIALITY: Aguada Fort was built to guard and defend the Portuguese stronghold in Goa against the Maratha and Dutch invaders. Owing to its location at the confluence of the Arabian Sea and the Mandovi River, it became the most prized fortress for the Portuguese back in the seventeenth century.

* BUTTERFLY BEACH

* IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH 

The Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church is located in Panjim, Goa, India. The Church conducts Mass every day in English, Konkani, and Portuguese. The colonial Portuguese Baroque style church was first built in 1541 as a chapel on a hill side overlooking the city of Panjim


SPECIALITY: The white sparkling church is majorly famed for its architecture and its flight of stairs that zigzag to the top. Another attraction of the church is the Augustinian Bell located in the belfry, which also the second largest bell in Goa.

ESTIMATE REVENUE OF GOA TOURISM.

This report estimates that in 2019 year, Goa generated Rs 12,681 cr of revenue from tourism activities.
